Buffer Time Between Meetings
Buffer time adds padding before and/or after each meeting, preventing back-to-back bookings and giving you time to prepare or decompress.
How It Works
When you set buffer time on an event type, the scheduler blocks out additional time around each booking. For example, with a 30-minute meeting and 10 minutes of buffer after:
- Meeting: 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM
- Buffer: 2:30 PM – 2:40 PM
- Next available slot: 2:45 PM (based on slot interval)
The buffer time is invisible to the attendee — they only see the available slots.
Configuring Buffer Time
- Edit your event type.
- Find the Buffer Time section.
- Set Buffer Before (e.g., 5 minutes to prepare).
- Set Buffer After (e.g., 10 minutes for notes).
- Save.
Before vs After
- Buffer Before — Time blocked before the meeting starts. Use for preparation, reviewing notes, or getting set up.
- Buffer After — Time blocked after the meeting ends. Use for writing notes, following up, or taking a break.
Common Configurations
- Quick Check-ins (15 min): 0 before, 5 after
- Standard Meetings (30 min): 5 before, 10 after
- Deep-dive Sessions (60 min): 10 before, 15 after
- Back-to-back OK: 0 before, 0 after
Tips
- Start with small buffers and increase if you feel rushed.
- Buffer time combines with your slot interval — if your slot interval is 15 minutes and buffer is 10 minutes, the effective gap might round up.
- Consider different buffer times for different event types (sales calls may need more prep time than check-ins).
- Remember that more buffer time means fewer available slots per day.
